It’s time, once again, to have a little look at the latest lot of lovingly crafted pieces produced and photographed by our ever-creative community.

Pine and plywood, following Paul’s design finished with emulsion paint.
Guitar Neck by Nathan Fletcher-Jones
This guitar neck was made from American maple and Blackwood. I used hand tools for everything except for a drill. Hand router to make the channel for the truss rod. Shaped with rasp files and then sandpaper. Fretboard was oiled with linseed and neck with nitrocellulose. Fine sanding back of nitro before waxing and polishing. This will be for a jazz master guitar.

Island Table by Bill Fitzer
bult with heart pine lumber salvaged from a home built in the 1860s, I thru tennoned the legs and wedged the tenons into the top. the legs were then mortise and tenoned and pinned with walnut dowels. finally a hand rubbed finish of boiled linseed oil, mineral spirits and an oil based polyurathane was applied. I had to provide for wood movement of the top, so the end skirt peices have a sliding mortise and tenon to accomodate that.

I became the 100 year old glass pieces from the old house where the grandmother of my wife lived her entire life.. Used 3 small pieces in each side.
Shoe Tidy by Matt Sims
100% reclaimed wood… All made with meranti from an old door recovered by a neighbour who’s a builder. Plywood for panels and shelves used to be subfloor, under laminate flooring, hence is was grubby and needed painting, (with emulsion and varnish) Mains structure finished with shellac and wax. Not without it’s challenges this one, but I’m pleased with the final result!

Tool Cabinet by shane Miller
Sapele tool cabinet, great way to occupy time during COVID restrictions. Struggled with the grain until I purchased a scraper also the door stiles turned into propellers overnight so had to start again. Shaped the draw pulls out of some old gym bench boards. Trouble is wifey won’t let me use it as a tool cabinet !
The draws are sapele and oak
Coat Rack by Mian G
Coat hanger out of cherry wood. Blood wood coat hooks for decoration. Finished with Odie’s oil

Mallet made from myrtle wood and bubinga.

Thank you , the joy for me is making furniture to hand down to my family. I now have a growing list. It really is so satisfying when the shellac goes on and the grain starts to standout followed by the wax best therapy going 😀
