This is my first dovetail box following Paul’s instruction. Still not perfect, but a big step forward from my previous efforts! It provides a new home for my Record 043 plough plane. The finish is three coats of Danish oil.

I find that any excuse I now make a dovetail box, currently making one for my Stanley No 80 scraper plane.Hi,
Since this is my first post let me introduce myself.
My name is Onofre and I’m based in Spain. I love woodworking and my current interest area is focused on building guitars. I’m now on my 4th one. Anyway I’m really excited with this site and all I have discovered here so far.
My question in this case is related to this dovetail box topic. I don’t have got available pine wood right now so I started a new box using just some Oak scrap I have around. Now I am just sizing and squaring all the parts required. Her is my question. When it comes to end grain sides I have found it is not possible to hand plane just in the same way as Paul does with pine, I mean just free hand from one tuip and then completing from the other extreme. How do you guys handle this kind of task? Thanks in advance and thanks so much to Paul for this great great site.
