Gallery Goodness, 26th May 2017
It is hot, hot, hot in the workshop today. You can tell that summer is here because Paul has been outside with the BBQ. I was hoping for hotdogs, but it turned out that he was conditioning steel.
We’ve had a whole lot of interesting pictures uploaded over the last couple of weeks and I have just caught up with popping them in the gallery. Check out the latest bunch below!
PICTURE FRAME BY NOELOBA frame for my daughter’s hand cast based on Paul’s picture frame. Walnut with maple inlay. Also my first attempt at pyrography. Finished with several coats of tung oil |

WOODEN PLANE BY RAFIMy first plane! The body is Mahoe (Hibiscus Elatus) with a Martinique Prickly Ash (Zanthoxylum Martinicense) wedge. The blade is upcycled from a box store stamped steel block plane. These are native species in Puerto Rico where we call them Majó and Cenizo. |

DOVETAIL BOXES BY JARD0113 pine boxes, the taller is oak and pine. Thus begins my journey. I had thougtht to wait until retirement to begin woodworking due to space constraints. Following Paul I’ve learned I can create with my hands with a minimum of tools and space; all that’s needed is a little creativity along with instruction and confidence. |

BENCH STOOL BY JOSH JENKINSONThis was made as a guitar stool from oak (railway sleeper timber) and walnut for the middle part of the seat. The most challenging part of the build was the 7 degree angle on two planes for the legs. I cut these using a home made mitre box with both a 7 degree slope and 7 degree angle on the fence. |
